I’m glad you’re in the world

I took the day off today. Like actually took it off. I didn’t download video from my camera to the computer, I didn’t shoot the intro or the wrap up.  I didn’t draw, or design or write a to-do list. I took the day off, and just had a good day.

I slept in. I made scrambled eggs with kale, pepper, apple and cranberries in a toasted tortilla for breakfast and watched YouTube while I ate. I sent texts telling loved ones what that I’m thankful they’re in the world and why. I chatted with my best friend on messenger while I hung pictures in the living room, and then gave my mom a virtual tour of my new apartment on facetime. I cooked a vegetarian entree in my best friends kitchen while her and her mom made the rest of the traditional thanksgiving meal…and realized that she was using vegetable stock, and made sure that the stuffing was herb instead of turkey, because of course she did. And to her it wasn’t a big deal because three of the friends that were coming were vegetarian and she wanted to make sure that we were happy and fed. We watched tv and made fun of the storylines together. Dinner was wonderful and cleaning up in that house is as comfortable as  in my own.

This past weekend was the girls’ first weekend in the new apartment. There’s so many firsts. And it’s weird and amazing and I’m looking forward to sharing them all and to making new work and stories.

Until next time, take care and be good.

Your friend,
Jeffrey

I have a lot to be thankful for.

I’m thankful for all of you. I’m glad you’re in the world. Making your stories. I’m going back to work tomorrow. I have three things to do on my first sketchbook video. I’m already excited about the next one.
