Moving forward

I only have four more weeks in the cast! My friend, Sandy reminded me that I’m doing good and taking care of myself. I feel crazy because I’m an active person but she assured me that it’s just me being restless and that’s because I’m not a couch potato. My attitude and outlook are good, and I’m moving forward.

Speaking of moving forward, I cleaned a big chunk of my studio last weekend and moved my days back downstairs. It’s good to be back in my space and helps my focus so much. It turns out that breaking your leg is expensive, and I had a freak out about money so I opened commissions at a special price point. The response has been really amazing and supportive. Like I said, it’s great to be back to work.

I got out of the house yesterday to go promote roller derby at a health and wellness fair at Girl Scout council. I designed the quarter page handouts for the event. I always get a little nervous when I design these things because the leagues mostly just let me do my thing. They’re so much fun to work on though.

I’m working my way through the final pages of my current sketchbook, and the drawings are starting to take more time and be a little more ambitions. The book itself has taken on a life of its own beyond just a work book which has been an interesting trend over the last couple of sketchbooks. it’s something that I’ve been giving a lot of thought to, and managed to see the power of first hand in the Sketchbook class I taught this summer. I’m looking forward to implementing some of these thoughts in my fall drawing class and seeing where the fall sketchbook class takes me.

It really has been a good week and I appreciate all of your support. Next week, I’ll have commission drawings to show and itll be nearly September! The weather today is so nice and cool, and makes me look forward to skating in the fall so much!

Until next week, take care and be good.
your friend,
Jeffrey
