This week has been really tough. The girls went back to school, and getting used to being in the house by myself and working all day is an adjustment. Something they don’t tell you about breaking your leg is that even just sitting is exhausting, so I can’t really even spend the day in the studio without resting often.
I went to the doc yesterday and he says I’m healing well and we should be able to take the cast off in three weeks! I can’t even tell you how excited I am about that. For now though, I have a new cast with a new face. Did you know that they can make casts in more than one color!? 😉
I finished up a couple of Roller Derby name graphics and some other random things. Coming up soon is a cover for an American Artifacts omnibus from Hex Games, some fantastic creatures for a Newt Scamander personal project, and of course skating stuff. I miss being able to be active. Oh, yeah! I’m going to apply to the Light Gray Art Lab Iceland Residency again this year. It’s super intimidating to me, and I don’t really know what I have to offer, but I’m going to do it. It’s so easy for me to talk myself out of things before I try, and I don’t want to do that anymore.
I can’t wait to tell you all about this when I get a little distance. Being alone and immobile lets those personal Demons of Self Doubt dig their claws in.
Until next week. Take care and be good.
Your friend,
Jeffrey
