Sometimes plans change, and that’s okay. While I was researching superheroes on Pinterest for this week’s project goals, I ran across a little doodle of a lady. It was a really cute cartoon style, and I was suddenly inspired to try drawing some superheros in the same style. So I quickly sketched out Captain America, Superman and Wolverine. Then continued to with several other characters. Fan art has become less and less something that I’m interested in doing, but it’s a fun place to try out new things. As I worked on them, I was reminded of something that I’ve been saying for years. Anyone can draw, it’s just a matter of learning to see the details. and I realized what I wanted to do with these little sketches.
I always have the most fun at the Science Center events when I have something to engage with the audience over, and this feels like a perfect example of that. Each of these characters starts off as essentially a circle on top of an upside down U. The rest is just character props. This is an opportunity to talk about observing details.
I also managed to get one of my more involved drawings done, and put this new “Spider beats Bat” design together as a limited edition print. I’m really excited about how well it came out.
Thanks for checking in, and I’ll let you know on Monday how it all turned out! Until next time, take care and be good.
